The 16th Century Inn is the centerpiece of the picture book village of Fletching in East Sussex; Simon De Montfort kept an all night vigil at the church on his way to the Battle of Lewes. In fact that is how the village got its name, the soldiers "fletched" their arrows here on the eve of the Battle, in 1264.

Fletching is now a delightful backwater with a stunning norman church and some unmissable local attractions.

Sheffield Park Sheffield Park Gardens:Award winning landscape garden designed by Capability Brown and famous for its azaleas and rhododendrons
You can walk over the 6000 acres of the Ashdown Forest. Relive the Winnie the Pooh stories written about this magic place. See the famous 100 acre wood, and play Poohsticks on Pooh Bridge.

Or you could just relax next to the inglenook fireplace in the panelled Griffin bar, with a glass of wine.
